Sixty-one years ago a group of dedicated people with a clear vision brought St John Bosco’s pastoral vision to Melbourne’s rural Chadstone. Today, building developments and technological advancements communicate the College’s commitment to progress, while core pedagogical vision remains just as relevant as it was 61 years ago. Empowering young people to discover their own intrinsic goodness, while developing the skills and courage to express it in practical ways, is at the core of the Salesian Charism.
Salesian College Chadstone welcomes all boys and their families, celebrates diversity and promotes relationships built on mutual respect. All in the community are treated as valued partners in laying the foundation for lifelong learning. We celebrate the achievements of all within an environment of joy and optimism. As a College, we are committed to building a caring community which:
•Ensures that a Catholic and Salesian ethos underpins all aspects of College life within an atmosphere of respect for all
•Promotes initiative, a spirit of enquiry and a desire to strive for academic excellence through innovative and supportive teaching
•Provides students and staff with every opportunity to develop all aspects of each individual
•Practises wise governance, strategic leadership and fair processes; and
•Works in partnership with parents, families, past pupils, parishes, educational and ecclesiastical institutions and other civic agencies.
THE SALESIAN DIFFERENCE
A Salesian education is a journey that draws its inspiration from the spirituality and educational principles of our founder, St John Bosco. Our boys are accompanied on their journey by competent professional educators, who offer a host of academic, spiritual, social, cultural and sporting opportunities to enable our students to develop their gifts, achieve personal excellence and prepare for the future with hope and confidence. A Salesian education provides our boys with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to become fine young men, who will be able to engage with the world as “active citizens and good Christians”.
Our diverse and innovative curriculum at Salesian College Chadstone engages students in the learning process, challenges them to take responsibility for their learning and encourages them to strive for personal excellence. We cater for students across the entire ability range, providing opportunities for academically gifted students, as well as comprehensive learning support programs.
Our co-curricular program provides many sporting, cultural and other opportunities to promote a balanced, healthy lifestyle, self-esteem, and social-emotional development.
Extra-curricular activities we offer include Public Speaking, College Productions, Music Bands and Ensembles, ACC Sport Competitions and Volunteering and Community Service opportunities.
