Results shows Carey graduates are well-rounded high achievers

Carey Baptist Grammar School is dedicated to celebrating the full range of its students’ achievements, beyond only their academic results, writes Principal Mr Jonathan Walter.

We honour all the different ways our students achieve success, such as through personal growth, the arts, sport, community service or the pursuit of excellence in an area of interest.

However, year after year, our students do happen to achieve truly impressive academic results that also certainly deserve to be celebrated.

Our Class of 2023’s combined VCE and IB results

We are pleased to be able to offer both the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and the International Baccalaureate (IB) pathways at Carey and, in doing so, enable our students to choose a learning program that suits their interests and allows them to work toward achieving personal excellence.

In addition to their personal achievements throughout the year, the Year 12 Class of 2023 achieved excellent academic results. The following is an overview of the combined results of both VCE and IB cohorts:
• 3.9% of ATARs were above 99 (in the top 1% of the state)
• 18.6% of ATARs were above 95 (in the top 5% of the state)
• 35.3% ATARs were above 90 (in the top 10% of the state)
• 60.1% of all ATARs were above 80 (in the top 20% of the state)
• The median Carey ATAR is 84.5.

I am pleased to announce that 100% of our VCE cohort has already received an offer for a tertiary pathway beyond school, with more than 80% of those students receiving an offer for their first or second preference.

Given our outstanding IB results, we expect this trend will continue for our IB students when their tertiary offers are made.

Beyond the numbers, there are many wonderful examples throughout this cohort of individuals who have achieved beyond their own expectations, often overcoming challenging situations in the process.

Their results reflect their commitment and determination over many years. In partnership with our parents, our sincere thanks go to our outstanding team of teaching and professional staff for their expertise, dedication and support of our students, not just at the Year 12 level, but throughout each student’s entire Carey journey.

We know our students, staff and parents are committed to enabling each student to achieve their best.

The Class of 2023 is a wonderful cohort of exceptional individuals, and we know they will each go on to do great things beyond Year 12. We congratulate every one of them and wish them all the very best for their future endeavours.
